After parting ways with Jayson Braddock and Sean Jones, iHeartMedia Houston has found their replacement for afternoon drive. And they didn’t have to search far to find it.

SportsTalk 790 is adding former NFL Quarterback Sean Salisbury weekdays from 3p-6p CT. Salisbury exits Gow Media where he had hosted shows for ESPN Houston, SB Nation Radio and beIN Sports. He’s expected to make his debut on 790 on July 9th.

“We’re thrilled to be adding Salisbury to the team. The former QB brings a unique perspective from his days on the gridiron,” said Bryan Erickson, Director of AM Programming for iHeart Media Houston.

In addition to playing professional football for 10 years, Salisbury has worked as an NFL analyst on ESPN, appearing on Sports Center and NFL Live, and served as a consultant for the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard.

“I’ve been blessed with a full career and this opportunity to work with iHeart and Sportstalk 790 was too good to pass up in so many ways. I don’t take these great moments lightly,” said Salisbury. “The last 5 years have been special. I fully expect this new journey to be filled with WOW moments that make our listeners feel like they are getting the show they deserve!”

Salisbury joins a lineup featuring Josh Innes, Matt Thomas and former NFL players Greg Koch and N.D. Kalu. SportsTalk 790 will also continue its broadcast partnerships with the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets and the University of Texas football and basketball teams.

“We’ve put together an All Star lineup of guys who know sports and love talking about sports,” said Erickson. “Sportstalk 790 is truly the best destination for compelling local sports content in Houston.”

With Salisbury moving to 790, no word yet on how Gow Media will fill his void or what the status is of Robin Carlin, and Brian Barrett who have been part of Salisbury’s show.

SiriusXM has announced its extensive plans for coverage of Super Bowl LVII and the events leading up to the big game.

A dedicated Super Bowl pop-up channel on SiriusXM Channel 104 will be just one of the avenues SiriusXM plans to cover the event. Amber Theoharis will conduct interviews with players, and personalities making their way through Radio Row throughout the week that will air on the pop-up channel.

Mad Dog Sports Radio will have a large presence on Radio Row, with shows hosted by Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, Adam Schein, Dusty Dvoracek, Danny Kanell, and Steve Torre all airing live on location in Arizona. Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall will be on hand to host I Am Athlete Tonight from the event, as well.

“With all eyes and ears focused on Phoenix for Super Bowl Week, SiriusXM will deliver fans around the country the unique mix of sports, music and entertainment programming that you can only find on SiriusXM,” said SiriusXM President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein.

“With multiple game broadcasts, several channels in Phoenix covering the latest news and providing expert analysis on the teams, interviews with many of the celebrities in town for the game, and our exclusive concert with Luke Combs, our subscribers will have exceptional access throughout the biggest week on the NFL calendar.”

ESPNU Radio hosts Colt McCoy, Rick Neuheisel, and Max Starks will also be in Arizona on Radio Row, in addition to Dusty and Danny hosting their shows each day from Radio Row.

Fantasy football expert Jeff Mans and SportsGrid Radio host Scott Ferrall will also originate content from Radio Row.

SiriusXM will offer four different game broadcasts of Super Bowl LVII. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles home broadcasts will each air, as will the national Westwood One call. Additionally, a Spanish-language broadcast will also be provided. Listeners will also be able to hear the halftime show — performed by pop star Rihanna — on Sirius XM Hits 1, The Heat, and Super Bowl LVII Radio.

Stan Norfleet To Replace N.D. Kalu On SportsTalk 790 in Houston

Change is afoot at SportsTalk 790 in Houston. Chris Gordy will have a new co-host in middays as N.D. Kalu exits and Stan Norfleet comes aboard for Next Up.

Kalu, a former Houston Texans defensive end, has decided to leave radio behind. Instead, he will focus on his real estate business.

“N.D. is a tremendous talent and one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. He will be missed,” said iHeartMedia Houston’s head of AM programming, Bryan Erickson.

Stan Norfleet comes to Houston after most recently being on WFNZ in Charlotte. He is no stranger to Texas, though. He finished his college football career at Texas Southern University. He also worked in the sales departments for both the Rockets and the Texans.

“It is a tremendous blessing and honor to join the renowned iHeartMedia Houston family. I have long been a fan and avid listener of Sportstalk 790 and respect the history and contributions of its personalities,” Stan Norfleet said in a press release. “My affinity for Space City spans nearly two decades and I look forward to connecting with old friends and new listeners in the market.”

In addition to his time on air in Charlotte, Norfleet has also been heard on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta and seen on Raycom’s regionally syndicated ACC Network. He is also a former columnist at BSM.

“Stan brings amazing passion to everything he does,” said Erickson. “He has strong local ties and we’re thrilled to add him to the team.”
