RapSheet and Friends, a new podcast hosted by Ian Rapoport launched as a joint venture by Westwood One and the NFL Network. The first episode of RapSheet and Friends was released September 5th on the Westwood One Podcast Network.
“Sports is the crown jewel of Westwood One and we take pride in delivering our unbeatable sports programming across the entire audio landscape,” said Suzanne Grimes, executive VP, Marketing for Cumulus Media and president of Westwood One. “This original podcast is a perfect addition for football fans who want to hear the inside track.”
Episode one of RapSheet and Friends is uniquely titled, “Bill Belichick and the time Tom Brady almost fell off a cliff hitting a meaningless golf shot.” Featured on the podcast’s first episode is an exclusive interview with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. After being asked to tell a favorite Tom Brady story, Belichick told of the time his MVP and five-time Super Bowl winning quarterback was “hanging over the side of the cliff probably 200 -300 feet above the ocean trying to hit a golf ball.”
“But that’s Tom, he’s very, very competitive, very focused. Plays kind of fearlessly, whether it’s on…in this case on the golf course…or on the football field. But I was just thinking to myself, ‘This is a crazy sight that I’m looking at here.’
So he hit the ball and then his caddy kind of walked over there and gave him a hand and helped him back up this cliff that he was a few feet down on, or below. So I certainly breathed a little bit easier when he came up for air on that one.”
The first episode also includes appearances by Ian’s NFL Network colleagues Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero in addition to Belichick.
“All I want to do is talk football with my buddies and provide listeners with the latest and most in-depth information possible,” Rapoport said when describing his show. “This podcast offers the perfect avenue to do that. Along with Mike and Tom, we’re going to have fun, I promise.”
RapSheet and Friends episodes will be released weekly, continuing to offer listeners in-depth analysis, unique stories and exclusive conversations with players, coaches and front office personnel.
