VSiN has its sights set on expanding its national footprint by distributing their content on free audio platforms. To do so, the sports betting content company will soon be leaving SiriusXM, with additional announcements to come regarding the network’s terrestrial plans.
Since arriving on the scene in 2017, VSiN has produced high quality sports betting audio, video and written content. The company has hired a number of top personalities including Brent Musburger, Mike Lombardi, Mitch Moss, Pauly Howard, and Mike Pritchard, just to name a few. The network has partnered with groups such as SiriusXM, MSG, NESN, Marquee Sports Network, Rogers SportsNet, the English Premier League and iHeartMedia, as well as many of America’s sports radio stations as a result of producing daily Action Updates.
But to increase its audience and path to larger revenues in legalized sports betting states, a bold move had to be made. VSiN made the difficult decision to leave satellite radio, and is now focused on ramping up their podcasting and “betcasting” efforts, while also gearing up for terrestrial expansion.
VSiN’s free audio programming will become available starting January 1st. Their partnership with SiriusXM will end on December 31st. The two companies have been partners since February 2017, 18 months before the Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing states to legalize sports betting.
“We’re ready to take things to the next level and are close to announcing a deal that will even further expand that reach by making VSiN available to significantly more people and on more devices for free, across the globe” said VSiN founder and CEO Brian Musburger in an internal memo. “Additional reach on more devices will also mitigate some of the new challenges brought by the pandemic, specifically the fact that more and more people are listening from home instead of during their daily commutes to and from work.”
SiriusXM was an important part of VSiN’s launch. Musburger said he appreciates the company offering his brand a platform when it was the first and only network dedicated to sports betting. The exposure on SiriusXM helped VSiN ignite its exponential growth over the past nearly 4 years, but now the company must expand its offerings in order to reach the next phase of its growth.
With sports betting now legal in 22 states, and others expected to follow suit, VSiN is well positioned to attract interest from radio operators across the country. Currently, the network distributes seven podcasts through the iHeartRadio platform. Expect more news on the company’s expansion plans in the near future.
