iHeartMedia and Bloomberg Media are teaming up for production and distribution of podcasts the business news outfit puts together.

Four new original podcasts from the two will mark the start of their new, multi-year deal. The four are expected to be on broad business topics.

“Bloomberg Media continues to be one of the first, most-trusted destinations for high-quality content — from market news to business trends, to deeper financial backstories on what’s moving the economy overall,” said iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group CEO Conal Byrne. “We are excited to partner with Bloomberg, not only to grow the audience of their existing slate of great shows, but to develop a whole new list of titles across the next several years, combining their editorial expertise with our mass reach and monetization.”

“We continue to see growth with our chart-topping, award-winning podcasts, as we had 26% increase in podcast downloads in 2020,” said Bloomberg Media Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Strategic Partnerships M. Scott Havens. “Bloomberg Media delivers the global perspective and deep insight business-minded listeners crave, and new platforms such as the iHeartMedia network extends our reach with new audiences who are seeking quality, premium content.”

The deal includes distribution of Bloomberg’s current stable of podcasts while adding more than a dozen new podcasts over time.

In a recent story with Vanity Fair, Rachel Maddow revealed she has several different projects in the works, including podcasts.

She is currently working on a non-fiction narrative podcast set to be released in the fall.

“It’s an American history, underappreciated story, that has resonance for all these things we’re dealing with today—the threat of authoritarianism and the question of whether or not criminal law is the appropriate venue, and has the right constitutional powers, to handle those kinds of threats,” Maddow told Vanity Fair. “It’s about journalism and journalistic ethics, and the ability of powerful people to manipulate American systems.”

The podcast will be the first released by her Surprise Inside production company.

VF also reports Maddow, during her contract negotiations with MSNBC, was approached by SiriusXM to host a weekly satellite radio show, with a nearly $40 million per year salary attached. SiriusXM declined to comment.

Maddow will continue to host her television show on MSNBC on Mondays at 9:00 PM, with Alex Wagner taking over on a Tuesday through Friday basis.
