F.P. Santangelo won’t be on MASN broadcasts during the 2022 MLB season. The Nationals TV broadcaster announced the move on his Twitter page.
Despite being investigated this season for an alleged sexual harassment case, Santangelo was reportedly let go due to performance.
“On Santangelo,” The Athletic’s Britt Ghiroli tweeted. “I was told it was more performance that prompted MASN to not pick up his option. Santangelo also missed time in the booth this season for a sexual harassment allegation. That was investigated by MLB and deemed inconclusive.”
Santangelo posted a long Twitter thread thanking various members of the organization for ten years of memories.
“Well, there goes my no-hitter.” Santangelo tweeted. “As you may have heard, I will not be returning to the MASN broadcast booth to call Nats games next season. I have so many people to thank for this last decade that I hardly know where to begin. I’d like to thank the Washington Nationals Organization and MASN for welcoming me into their family. You are class acts, and being a member of your team has been the honor of my career.”
Santangelo had been the Nationals color analyst since 2011. Before his broadcasting career, Santangelo played for the organization while they were in Montréal as the Expos.
“To every single player that has ever worn the Curly W: I can’t thank you enough,” The broadcaster continued. “You have, to a man, welcomed me graciously and included me as one of you, each and every day. I hope I remembered how difficult the game is; it’s the hardest game in the world. And specifically to the 2019 World Champs: Winning the World Series was the single greatest thing I’ve ever experienced in baseball. It was magic, and you made me feel like I was part of it. I am forever grateful.”
The outfielder played seven MLB seasons with the Expos, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Oakland Athletics.
