CNN announced that the network is expanding in Europe as it enters a new country. CNN Portugal launched Monday as the company dives into the Portuguese media.

Like its other sister channels, CNN Portugal will run for 24-hours and includes some of the most notable journalists in the country to provide its citizens with the latest domestic and international news and analysis.

The press release also states that CNN Portugal will be available in 4.3 million homes in the country. Furthermore, the channel will have a digital presence at CNNPortugal.pt and various social media platforms.

“In a world that is increasingly awash with half-truths and disinformation, CNN has always endeavored to provide quality journalism built on fast and accurate information,” Rani Raad, President, CNN Worldwide Commercial, said. “We tell the stories that affect us all, from wherever they emanate in the world, and we tell those stories without fear or favor.

“That’s why when CNN reports, it really does matter. In Media Capital, we have a partner who shares these values. With this partnership, we look forward to increasing our presence in one of Europe’s fastest-growing markets as well as expanding further into a language spoken by over 250 million people around the world.”

MSNBC Intends to Get Ahead of Midterm Election Coverage

Over the following weeks and months, NBC News correspondents will pursue influential individuals in battleground states.

This year is a midterm election year, and Variety reports that MSNBC is getting ahead of the curb to provide coverage.

When host Chuck Todd appears on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press Daily” Wednesday and Thursday, he will do so from Georgia. Todd will meet Georgia officials and candidates for office.

As the “Meet the Press” host gathers with officials and candidates in Georgia, it’s part of a bid by NBC News to extend out across the country to find the most important stories that will impact this year’s midterms and the 2024 presidential race.

“You cannot be a national news organization and cover the campaign process from Washington and New York,” Carrie Budoff Brown, the NBC News senior vice president, said.

Over the following weeks and months, NBC News correspondents will pursue influential individuals in battleground states. The hope is that the network will get ahead-of-the-curve information to news and politics enthusiasts.

Todd intends to visit battleground states in the coming months, with special “Meet The Midterms” broadcasts that will examine Senate and gubernatorial races in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.

Kendis Gibson: Hyper-Partisan News Led to MSNBC Departure

Gibson heads to South Florida, where he will be working as a morning and noon newscast as a co-anchor at the local level with CBS4 News.

Former MSNBC weekend anchor Kendis Gibson provided a reason for his departure from the network on his way out as he’s set to join CBS4 News Miami

In an interview with Variety, Gibson stated that he saw the “hyper-partisan” business of cable news at the network. Gibson hosted a weekend news show on MSNBC which began in 2019.

Furthermore, he was a host at ABC News, so Gibson has had a front seat to the demand that comes with working at a 24/7 cable news network over the past few years.

“I wanted to get away from working in the hyper-partisan 24/7 political news space,” Gibson said.

“This is a good chance to anchor a newscast that covers the full gamut of the news cycle which I love, including world news, entertainment news, human interest stories, and stories important to local communities — and in an awesome city with a big commitment to local news from the top down.”

Gibson heads to South Florida, where he will be working as a morning and noon newscast as a co-anchor at the local level with CBS4 News. A change from the national level news circuit.

“I love reporting on the full gamut of news: local, national, global, human interest stories and entertainment,” Gibson said. “I am thrilled to bring my passion for news to Miami as I embrace the opportunity to join CBS 4 and report on stories that resonate with our audience.”

The View co-host Joy Behar told her audience during Tuesday’s broadcast that if Republicans regain power they would begin to censor journalists.

“I read a lot about what’s going on in the world and you know Hungary and Poland, and they’re doing very badly with freedom of speech,” said Behar.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said this is part “of the big plan to control what happens in America.”

“Next thing comes the women,” Goldberg said. “We’re going to take your rights away just like we have taken X, Y, and Z because there will be nothing you can do.”

“That will happen here I think if the Republicans are back in power,” said Behar.

“You can see that they’re intractable right now. You cannot reason with these people. They are shameless, and they will destroy us. It sounds like it’s hyperbole, but I have been around a long time, and I’ve seen what can happen.”
