A new study published Monday indicates that AM-FM radio listening has increased considerably over the last six months.

In a release obtained by Barrett News Media, communications researcher FMR Associates and audience engagement company Eastlan, said weekly AM-FM listening is up 31% as the pandemic comes to an end and many of the restrictions that kept people working from home have been lifted.

According to the study, the greatest increase is among adults ages 25-44. The research also finds some people are cutting back on subscription audio or video services.

Current weekly AM-FM Radio Listening is at 86% in the 25 to 64 age group. Cume listening, is classified as the estimated number of different people who listened to a station for a minimum of five minutes in a quarter-hour within a reported daypart,. is strong and consistent regardless of age, sex, or market rank. 

The study concludes that the pandemic took a bite out of the radio audience, but researchers said they are encouraged with the numbers that they are seeing as radio remains the predominant audio medium. 

SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly came to the defense of her former colleague Tucker Carlson after a barrage of social media criticisms after an alleged racist carried out a horrific mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket last weekend.

According to Mediate, “The Megyn Kelly Show” host refused to name the shooter on her show Monday, consistent with her longstanding policy when these types of incidents are carried out.

“He’s pleaded not guilty, but he also left behind a trove of information, including a 180-page manifesto filled with racist and antisemitic commentary,” Kelly said. “The shooter was White. Detailing how and why he picked his target.”

Kelly slammed critics who blame Fox News star Tucker Carlson for the shootings that left 10 people dead.

“Why can’t we spend two f***ing minutes mourning the people who are dead and trying to understand that we have insane people in this country. We have lunatics. It’s a huge country!”

Kelly added that people have to interject politics into everything these days. “There’s no question that doesn’t make it Tucker Carlson’s fault. Just stop it. Just stop it!” 

iHeartMedia’s Black Information Network (BIN) is partnering with a global talent marketplace to create opportunities for Black American job seekers to connect with prospective employers. 

BIN said partner agency CareerBuilder plans to launch the “100,000 Careers” initiative in a press release. The project is described as “a critical step toward building wealth within the Black community.” 

“This partnership and the 100,000 Careers platform are both vital in bringing a valuable resource and job search experience to the Black community, and employers can now access a larger group of diverse candidates and talented workers,” said Kristin Kelley, Chief Marketing Officer at CareerBuilder. 

The 100,000 Careers platform will be a one-stop-shop for connecting employers with Black American career-seekers looking to advance.

“One of our highest priorities has been to call attention to the disproportionate income and unemployment gaps the Black community faces,” said Tony Coles, Division President for iHeartMedia Multiplatform Group and President for BIN: Black Information Network.

The platform includes tools to help candidates get started, such as job listings, easy resume building, and custom content designed to help Black listeners identify their transferrable skills and discover new careers.
