On Monday’s edition of Boomer & Gio, Boomer Esiason predicted that by Thursday, we would see news about New York City’s vaccine mandate that would mean that Kyrie Irvin could finally play in Nets’ home games. The report was met with skepticism, but by Wednesday night, it became clear that the morning host knew what he was talking about.
Thursday’s edition of Boomer & Gio began with Esiason explaining that he had inside information. He also called out members of WFAN’s afternoon show for saying on air that he was either lying or guessing.
“When I said it, I said ‘let’s wait until Thursday’,” Esiason said. “Well, no one wanted to wait until Thursday, especially the guys in the afternoon, especially Evan and especially Chris “double Mac” McConnell.”
The Thursday show was dubbed a “Boom-stradamus morning” by Gio, who also said that he would spend the morning bowing the Boomer Esiason. It was something Esiason certainly appreciated as he said that even though he knew he was right, he couldn’t defend himself as “the red-headed stepchild in the afternoon” spent two days on air saying he did not.
“They were just attacking, attacking, attacking. And I just sat quietly by and let them attack and just had to wait until it hit some liberal website and then it hits a liberal website and then all the sudden, I know what I am talking about.”
Esiason acknowledged that he “was fortunate to be in the loop on something” regarding discussions on New York City changing the rules of its vaccine mandate. Mayor Eric Adams decided to allow an exemption for performers, including athletes, that would allow them to work indoors even if they remain unvaccinated.
Moving off of Irvin and the Nets, Boomer turned his attention to Major League Baseball. Now that unvaccinated Yankees can play home games, he noted that it won’t be until the first road trip to Toronto that we find out who on the team has not received the Covid-19 vaccine.
